Alex Running Through The Snow

Dr. Seuss once said, “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”

This really applies to family photography. My grandson Alex is four years old. He and I decided to go for a walk on a day it had been snowing. Luckily, I had my camera ready as Alex was running through the fluffy powder. I just loved the expression on his face; four-year-olds know how to have a good time. These moments are important, and when we can capture them as photos it’s even better.

Photographing young children is often about persistence and anticipation. If I just wait patiently, they will laugh and smile doing something they like, whether it’s playing in the snow, or just running and having a good time. I just need to be ready with my camera when it happens.
